When applying for a residence permit, the applicant must have his or her biometric features recorded.
This means that the applicant must have a facial photo taken and his or her fingerprints recorded. The facial photo and fingerprints will be stored on a microchip embedded in the residence card, which will be issued to the applicant if he or she is granted a permit.
SIRI can only begin processing the application after biometrics have been recorded by the applicant. This must happen no later than 14 days after the submission date of the application.
If the applicant does not agree to have their biometric features recorded, your application will be rejected. This means that your application will not be processed.
Read more about biometrics here.

In certain countries Denmark does not have a diplomatic mission or application centre. In these instances the list will refer the applicant to one of the Norwegian missions with which Denmark has made an agreement or to the nearest Danish diplomatic mission or application centre in the region.
If the applicant is residing in a country where he is referred to a Norwegian diplomatic mission, he or she must submit one passport photo. If he or she is granted a residence permit based on the application, the applicant must have his or her biometric features recorded within a specifi time frame after entry to Denmark
We recommend that you visit the local diplomatic mission’s webpage to get more information before you submit the application. The individual diplomatic mission can have additional requirements regarding payment of additional fees, submission of additional passport photos or additional copies of the application.

When you have sent the application, you must then book an appointment at one of SIRI's branch offices. Here, the applicant can get a provisionary work permit the day after your employer has send an application, at the earliest. For this to happen, you must meet all of the necessary requirements, SIRI's citizen centre must be open and there must be availlable appointments for you to book right away. Bring your passport and the receipt proving that you have sent the application.
You can book an appointment via the link that is listed in the application as well as in the Digital Post receipt.
Special information if you have to book an appointment in Esbjerg or Sønderborg
If you want to book an appointment for a provisionary work permit in Esbjerg, you must write to your contact person at SIRI. You can also call your contact person within the opening hours where the person is available. You must book your appointment no later than 12 p.m. the day before. When you have sent the application, you must have your biometric features recorded at the nearest Danish diplomatic mission (for instance at a visa application centre) as soon as possible, and no later than 14 days after the application has been sent.
If you meet the necessary requirements, you will get a residence and work permit, including an entry visa about 10 days after SIRI has received your application, and after you have paid your fee and had your biometric features recorded.

You have submitted the application succesfully if:
- You have created a case order ID.
- You have paid the fee.
- You have submitted the application.
- The applicant has recorded their biometric features.
You can see the normal case processing time to the right on this page. When we make a decision in your case, you will receive an answer.
SIRI will contact you if we need further information to process your case.
The applicant's residence card will automatically be sent to the address that has been registered under their name in the Civil Registration System (CPR). It is important that their name is written on the mailbox. If their name is not written on the mailbox, there is a chance that the residence card will not be delivered to them, and that it will be sent back to SIRI instead.
If you have asked for a quick job start from abroad, we will as a rule make a decision approximately 10 days after we have received the application including biometrics and the processing fee. However, this requires that we have all the necessary information.
