Invitation of a visa applicant
There are different types of invitations, you can use as a host when inviting a foreign national who must hold a visa to visit you in Denmark.
If the applicant submits the visa application at a Danish diplomatic mission we recommend you use an online invitation form. If the applicant submits the visa application at another country's diplomatic mission (e.g. a Norwegian or Swedish mission) which represents Denmark, you should use a printable invitation form.
If you have completed an invitation and the applicant submits the invitation ID (online invitation only) or the completed printable invitation form together with the visa application and other relevant documentation, it will usually mean that there is no need to obtain additional information from your host in Denmark. This will normally reduce the processing time significantly.
If, however, the applicant does not submit an invitation ID or a completed printable invitation form together with the visa application, the applicant must expect a longer processing time, as the information must be obtained by the Immigration service from you as the host in Denmark.

Once you have submitted an online invitation, you will automatically be given an invitation ID. Make sure to forward the invitation ID to the applicant if he/she is to submit the visa application at a Danish diplomatic mission. The applicant must state the invitation ID at the diplomatic mission, and the visa application will then be matched with your invitation before the diplomatic mission begins processing the case.
If the applicant submits the application to a diplomatic mission that is not Danish, but represents Denmark in the applicant's country of residence, the diplomatic mission cannot use the invitation ID as it cannot access the online invitation. Instead, you should send a copy of the completed invitation to the applicant. The Immigration Service recommends that you sign the invitation by hand before sending it to the applicant. The applicant should then bring the invitation to the diplomatic mission. You can download a copy of the online invitation at My Page once you have filled in the invitation and submitted it.
The online invitation is only valid for 6 months from the time you submitted the invitation.
If you use the online invitation form, you can include several persons in the same form.
Are you using a paper invitation, you must fill in an invitation for each person you want to invite.
If you have used an online invitation form, you can follow the visa case online on My Page. You can log on with the MitID you used when filling in the online invitation form. You will be able to see whether the applicant has gone to the diplomatic mission to submit his/her application, whether the application has been forwarded to the Immigration Service in Denmark for further processing, and whether a decision has been made in the case.
Any personal data concerning the host which appear on the invitation form will be supplied to the relevant authorities of the Member States and processed by those authorities, for the purposes of a decision on the visa application.
