Updated: Information about a special law concerning evacuated persons from Afghanistan

On 11 November 2021 the Danish Parliament passed a bill about a temporary residence permit for persons who have assisted Danish authorities, etc. in Afghanistan (hereinafter the special law).

The law has come into effect on 18 November 2021 and entails that certain persons who have contributed to the Danish effort in Afghanistan and their family members may be granted a temporary residence permit in Denmark.

According to the law an application for a residence permit must be submitted to the Immigration Service by 24 November 2021 the latest. In case of quite particular circumstances, applications received after 24 November 2021, but by 1st December 2021 the latest, will however be considered submitted in due time.

The Immigration Service has made a site here on nyidanmark.dk where you can read more about the Special Law and where it is possible to apply for a residence permit under the Special Law.

You can also read more about the rules for you, who have already been granted residence permit under the Special Law and wish to apply for family reunification with family members staying abroad.
