Family reunification of spouses - Exemption from passing tests in Danish for Turkish citizens
If you are a Turkish citizen who has been granted residence permit in Denmark on the grounds of family reunification with a spouse, you may be exempt from passing 2 tests in Danish.
If you are a Turkish citizen who has been granted residence permit in Denmark and if you, within 6 months of being registered in the National Register of Persons, have become economically active as an employee, self-employed person or service provider, you are exempt from passing a test in Danish at the A1 level or higher.
If you have applied for family reunification as a spouse and if you, within 9 months of being registered in the National Register of Persons, have become economically active as an employee, self-employed person or service provider, you are exempt from passing a test in Danish at the A2 level or higher.
However, in order to qualify for the reduction of the collateral your spouse most post, you must pass a test in Danish at the A1 level or higher.
If you believe that you are exempt from the requirement to pass the test in Danish because you are a Turkish citizen and are economically active, you can contact the Immigration Service to clarify whether you are exempt from passing a test in Danish at the A1 level. If you do not contact the Immigration Service and it turns out – after the deadline – that you are not considered being economically active, your residence permit may be revoked.
