The food cheque may, in a few cases, affect your residence permit from SIRI

If you have a residence permit as a student or in order to obtain a Danish authorisation, applying for a food cheque yourself may affect your residence permit. This does not apply if you are a PhD student in paid employment.

If you have received the food cheque automatically, this will not affect you

If you have received the food cheque automatically without having applied for it, this will not affect your residence permit.

If you apply for the cheque yourself, it may affect you

If you apply to receive the food cheque yourself, this may result in your residence permit being revoked or not being extended.

A residence permit as a student or in order to obtain a Danish authorisation is given on the condition that you do not receive public benefits.

SIRI considers the food cheque to be a public benefit.

Who is not affected by this?

You can receive the food cheque without it affecting your residence permit – even after applying for one – if you fall into one of the following categories:

  • You have a residence permit from SIRI other than a student or authorisation residence permit.

  • You are an accompanying family member of a student.

  • You are an accompanying family member of a person who has a residence permit in order to obtain a Danish authorisation.
