Russia is no longer on the ÅGH country list
Russia is no longer on the list of countries from which asylum applications are processed in the expedited version of the manifestly unfounded procedure, the so-called ÅGH list.
As of 19 January 2023, the ÅGH country list has been updated so that Russia is no longer on the list. The ÅGH country list is a list of countries from which asylum applications are processed in the expedited version of the manifestly unfounded procedure.
Russia has hitherto been on the list, although exceptions to the expedited version of the manifestly unfounded procedure could be made based on a specific assessment.
Although Russia has now been removed from the list of ÅGH countries, it will still be possible to process an asylum application from a Russian citizen in the manifestly unfounded procedure if the Danish Immigration Service considers the application to be unfounded in the specific case and the Danish Refugee Council agrees.
The ÅGH list includes EU Member States, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Albania, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Japan, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, New Zealand, Serbia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The list also includes Georgia, although some exceptions apply on a case-by-case basis.
When processing a case in the expedited version of the manifestly unfounded procedure, the applicant does not fill in an asylum application and is quickly referred to the Immigration Service for an interview. The Refugee Council must give an opinion in the case after the Refugee Council has also had an interview with the applicant. If the Refugee Council agrees with the Immigration Service, asylum will be refused very quickly. There is no right of appeal to the Refugee Board.
