Technical support - frequently asked questions
On this page you can find answers to a number of frequently asked questions about payment of fees, online application forms, digital signature (MitID) and My Page.
Private MitID and MitID Erhverv
MitID is a digital ID. MitID is used online to prove who you are, e.g. when logging in to Danish public self-service solutions or your online banking.
On Newtodenmark.dk you can use MitID to log in to My Page or fill out online application forms.
If you are 15 years or older and have a Danish CPR number, you can obtain a MitID.
If you do not have a Danish CPR number, you cannot obtain a MitID.
You can read more about MitID at mitid.dk (opens in new window)
MitID Erhverv is a digital ID that companies, associations and authorities can use if their employees or members need to log in to private or public self-service solutions. MitID Erhverv identifies you as an employee with a specific company or organisation.
On Newtodenmark.dk you can use MitID Erhverv to log in to My Page or fill out online application forms.
Read more about MitID Erhverv at mitid-erhverv.dk (opens in new window)
In most online application forms on Newtodenmark.dk, you can log in to and sign the application using both private NemID and MitID Erhverv. However, in some online forms you can only use either private MitID or MitID Erhverv. Follow the instructions in the online form.
Companies can decide that employees use their private MitID to log in on behalf of the company or organisation.
If you log in to My Page, different information will be shown according to whether you have logged in as a private individual using MitID or as the employee of a company using MitID Erhverv.
If you are experiencing problems logging in to or signing an online form using MitID or MitID Erhverv, you can get support on mitid.dk and mitid-erhverv.dk.
On mitid.dk you will find an overview of technical requirements for both computers and mobile platforms.

Payment of fees
Within the payment solution linked to Newtodenmark.dk, you have the option of printing a receipt after you have paid the fee. It is important that you print this receipt before closing the payment module.
Please note that you will not be sent a receipt via email, since you do not enter your email adress in connection with the payment.
When you submit your application, you must attach documentation that you have paid the fee. If you have paid the fee without printing the receipt, you must instead attach some other form of documentation for the payment. This can be in the form af a payment statement from your online bank.
Online (digital) application
It depends on the type of application, whether you need to use MitID to log in.
MitID is required in those instances where you are completing an online form as the sponsor in Denmark (family member, employer, educational institution etc.).
MitID is also required in those instances where you as the applicant already have a residence permit in Denmark.
In those instances where MitID is not required, you can log in using the reference number and password given to you in the online application form.
In a number of application forms, you must log in using a reference number (a form of username) and a password. This can happen in two situations:
- If you do not have MitID, but instead must use a reference number and password to log in.
- If you are forwarded a reference number and a password from your sponsor (family member, employer, educational institution etc.).
Many online application forms are separated into two or more parts. This is the case if we inform you under the tab “How to apply” on an application page that two or more people must complete different parts of the online form. For example your employer, educational institution, place of internship, au pair host family or your family member might have to complete their part of a form.
The reference number and password tie the separate parts of an application together. When your sponsor has completed their part of the form, they must send the reference number and password to you, making it possible for you to log in to your part.
As an applicant, the way you log in depends on the specific online application form you will be using.
In application forms in which only the applicant will be completing the form, you can choose to log in using MitID or the reference number and password which the system creates for you the first time you choose to begin a new application.
In application forms in which it is a precondition that the applicant has already taken up residence in Denmark, the applicant must, as a rule, use MitID to log in. For example, this is the case for all application forms for extension of stay.
In a number of application forms, in order to log in as the applicant, you must have received a reference number and a password for part 2 (the applicant’s part) from your sponsor (i.e. employer, educational institution or family member) in Denmark. You can only log in to part 2 if your reference has completed part 1 and passed on the reference number and password to you.
If you cannot log in to part 2 of an application, you must check that you have entered the correct reference number and the correct password. We recommend that you contact your sponsor and make sure that you have received the correct reference number and the correct password.
If you have previously logged in to the application and have changed your password, you must enter the password you have chosen.
Please note that you have 30 days to log in to part 2 of an application form. If more than 30 days have passed, your reference will need to start over with filling out their part of an online application form.
A number of online forms can be signed and submitted by the applicant by attaching a signed copy of the application’s ‘Sworn declaration’.
How to apply
Follow the instructions in the form. If the form can be submitted with a scanned signature, you will be able to choose this submission method towards the end of the form.
Then you will be asked to do the following:
- Open a PDF version of the application’s ‘Sworn declaration’.
- Print the PDF version of the application's ‘Sworn declaration’.
- Write the date and place and sign the box ‘Signature – applicant’ by hand on the last page.
- Scan the signed declaration.
- Attach the file with the scanned declaration and your signature to the application.
- The application is now signed and can be submitted digitally.
Please note that you with your signature declare that the information given in the form is true and complete.
There can be several reasons for an online application to fail or return an error message while you are completing it.
A significant reason for a failing online application is that you have attached too many or too large files. Each form contains instructions on the maximum size of files you can attach. The Danish Immigration Service and SIRI is currently increasing the number of megabytes (MB) you can attach from 10 MB to 50 MB. It is stated in each form whether you can attach a maximum of 10 MB or a maximum of 50 MB.
If the online application form you are completing fails, you should start over as follows:
- Close your browser completely, incl. all tabs and windows.
- Go to Newtodenmark.dk, and find the relevant online form.
- Open the form, and log in.
- Choose ‘Begin a new application’. It is important that you do not try to continue a previously saved application!
- Complete the form again.
- Check the size of the files you wish to attach. If the file size is very close to the limit of 10 MB or 50 MB, you can try to minimize the file size or only attach parts of the documentation.
- Submit the application
- Send remaining, if any, documentation using either the Danish Immigration Service's or SIRI’s contact form.
