If you wish to contact the Danish Immigration Service about a specific case, please make sure to have all relevant information ready or remember to include it in your letter or email. Relevant information could be the applicant's full name and date of birth or the case number, Person ID or Alien Identification number (Udl.nr.).
Duty of confidentiality
Most of the information we have is confidential. We cannot release this information to people who are not involved in the case. This is because of our duty of confidentiality. We can provide information for applicants themselves or a person who has the power of attorney from the applicant. Depending on the type of case we may also provide information to other relevant persons, e.g. the applicant's spouse or host. It might be necessary for us to ask you a verification question to determine whether you may receive information.
Before you call us
Every day there are 1,500 persons who call the Immigration Service for guidance.
We aim to answer enquiries quickly and efficiently. Telephone guidance is a supplement to the guidance that can be found on our website, newtodenmark.dk. We offer guidance through explaining the rules, e.g. by explaining what is generally required to obtain a permit. We cannot provide guidance on precisely what you have to do in order to fulfill the criteria.

What kind of help should you not expect?
- You cannot receive an answer to whether or not you can receive a permit
- You cannot receive an answer telling you exactly what you need to do in order to receive a permit
- You cannot receive a decision about which type of permit you should decide to apply for
- You cannot receive an answer on how long it will take to process your application before we have seen it.

Please be aware:
- We can only offer advice based on the information that you have given us. Other conditions could be important for a case. This is something we would be able to see from your application form
- It is not guaranteed that you can receive answers to all your questions during the same telephone conversation
What kind of help can you expect?

- We can tell you if we have received your application. Please be aware that it can take several days after we receive your application before it is registered in our system
- You can receive an estimate of how long we expect it to take before you can receive a decision
- You can find out if we have received new information in relation to your case - Please be aware that it can take several days after we receive the information before it is registered on our system
- You can give us new information about your case
What kind of help should you not expect?
- You cannot receive an answer as to whether or not you can receive a permit
- Special circumstances can result in your case being processed before others, but your case will not be processed faster simply because you request it
- We cannot help you to contact other authorities on your behalf

- You should have the following information ready when you call:
- Case number, person ID or Alien Identification number (udl.nr.)
- Any letters from us or you that you have questions about
- If someone else calls us on your behalf you will have to be present by the telephone – or send a letter giving that person legal permission beforehand - so we are sure that we may give out information concerning your case to that person
Please be aware:
- Our telephone adviser will not be the caseworker assigned to your specific case, and therefore will not know all the details contained of your case
What kind of help can you expect?
- You can receive guidance on the rules for foreigner’s residency in Denmark
- You can receive help in finding the guidance available at newtodenmark.dk - e.g. a description of relevant rules or receive answers to additional questions concerning the rules
- You can receive help in understanding our decision better, if you need it. Note: Our telephone adviser will not be the caseworker assigned to your specific case, and therefore will not know all the details contained of your case
- You can receive advice regarding complaints, if you have received a refusal
What kind of help should you not expect?
- If you have received a refusal you cannot obtain an answer about whether or not you would get a permit if you wish to apply again, e.g. due to changed circumstances
- If you have received a refusal we are unable to tell you exactly what you need to do in order to receive a permit
