If you call us, we can give you general information about the various rules and regulations, including the general conditions for a residence permit. We cannot give you guidance as to what you must do to meet the specific conditions for a residence permit.

The person you are talking to on the phone is not the case officer handling your specific case. They will therefore not be familiar with all the details of your case.

If you have not yet submitted an application, we can only give you guidance based on the information you give us.

If you have already applied and have received a refusal, the letter informing you of our decision will contain information on your options for appeal.

When you call, you can expect to get:

  • information about the rules and regulations concerning EU residence in Denmark and residence and work permits in Denmark for employees, job seekers, students, au pairs, interns and for those applying for a Working Holiday
  • help finding the relevant information on newtodenmark.dk, e.g. the correct application page, and help to the application process in general
  • information about the service goals we have set for our case processing times
  • information about whether we have received your application and any documents. In addition, you can add new information to your case
  • help understanding the decision you have received, and guidance concerning your options for appeal if you have received a refusal.

When you call, you cannot expect to:

  • be informed whether you will get a residence permit before we have processed your application
  • receive advice as to what kind of residence permit you should choose to apply for
  • be informed of the specific case processing time for your case, speed up the processing of your case by calling us, or speak with the case officer handling your specific case
  • be informed whether you can get a residence permit if you apply for a second time after having received a refusal.

Most of the information we have is confidential. We cannot release this information to people who are not involved in the case. This is because of our duty of confidentiality.

If you call us in the capacity of host family, employer, educational institution or place of internship, we might ask you a verification question to determine whether you may receive information.

You need a power of attorney from the au pair, employee, student or intern, before we can provide you with information regarding the case. We can provide you with information in certain cases, e.g. if we have requested information from you regarding the case.
