Can I apply for a sideline employment permit?

If you already hold a residence permit based on work on the Faroe Islands, you can apply for a sideline employment permit.

A sideline employment permit is granted on the basis of an individual assessment.

Can my sideline employment permit be extended?

You can extend your sideline employment permit if you still hold the same job and if you still meet the conditions of your permit for your main job.

What are the conditions?

In order to be granted a sideline employment permit, you must attach a specific job offer to your application.

The salary and terms of employment must correspond to Faroese standards.

It is condition that your sideline job must be naturally related to the job that your residence permit on the Faroe Islands is based on. For example, this could be the musician who wishes to take sideline employment as an instructor at a music school.

Normally, you can only be granted a permit for sideline employments that involve between 8 and 15 hours of work per week.

How long can I have my sideline job?

Your sideline employment permit can be granted for a period equal to the period of your main job. However, the period cannot exceed the duration of your sideline job contract.
